WWE NXT 11 October 2022 - Season Premiere Recap

• Non-title Match: Bron Breakker def. Javier Bernal (3:20).

Grade: C+

Post-match, JD McDonagh enters the ring. Fans chant “Dragunov” and out he comes.

JD drops Dragunov out of nowhere with a headbutt, then unloads on Bron.

Dragunov charges with the Moscow Torpedo but JD moves and Dragunov takes Bron down.

JD retreats to the floor as Dragunov holds the NXT Title belt.

• Best of 3 Series Finale: Nathan Frazer def. Axiom (12:53).

Grade: A

Frazer also secures his spot in the North American Championship Ladder Match.

Post-match, Axiom & Frazer shake hands and embrace as fans chant for them.

• In the parking lot, Grayson Waller confronts Ilja Dragunov. Waller says he knows Dragunov is a fan of his.

Waller mentions how Dragunov wanted an edge for his Halloween Havoc match, but he needs no edge when he faces Apollo Crews at Halloween Havoc.

Dragunov asks Waller why he’s wearing his grandmother’s sunglasses. Waller says he’s not, it’s just that Crews tried blinding him last week.

They have some words and Waller talks about a match. Dragunov accepts but Waller didn’t mean for that to happen.

• Backstage, Valentina Feroz is with Sanga. She asks Sanga to be in her corner tonight, and he says he is always with her. Indi Hartwell walks in.

She says this may be Feroz’s jungle, but tonight this is Indi’s ring.

• We get a video package from Apollo Crews.

Crews says your view of the world is shaped by how you allow yourself to see it from your own lens.

Most people live their entire lives through a forced perspective, seeing things in an uncomplicated way but changing one detail can greatly alter how you visualize the things around you, and now you see things you never saw coming.

We see the Chucky horror icon laughing with cut-scenes of various Halloween-related images.

Crews shakes the images out of his head.

Crews says he will focus his perspective on his way to his ultimate goal, the NXT Title, but at Halloween Havoc he will leave Waller in the dark.

• Indi Hartwell def. Valentina Feroz (3:33).

Grade: C

During the match, Veer Mahaan comes out and says something in Sanga's ear, convincing Sanga to leave with him.

• Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell says Cora Jade & Roxanne Perez will engage in Pick Your Poison next week.

Jade says she has the whole roster to choose from and she’s already contacted some people.

She says it will be hard for Perez because she has no friends and everyone is ghosting her from RAW & SmackDown.

McKenzie says she talked to Perez and her DM’s are blowing up with interest from multiple Superstars. Jade says Perez is blatantly lying.

McKenzie says Perez is going to SmackDown this Friday.

Jade says she has some phone calls to make, and asks McKenzie if she has a phone number of Bianca Belair.

• #1 Contender’s Triple Threat: Edris Enofe & Malik Blade def. Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen and The Dyad (9:10).

Ending:

Cameron Grimes takes out Joe Gacy at ringside out of nowhere. He then stops Rip Fowler from helping Jagger Reid.

Enofe takes advantage by finishing off Reid for the pin.

Grade: B+

• Alba Fyre def. Jacy Jayne (3:34).

Grade: C+

Post-match, Fyre is suddenly attacked by someone dressed in all black. The person is revealed to be Sonya Deville.

Fans chant for Deville as she smiles. Gigi Dolin & Jayne join the beatdown.

Deville, Dolin & Jayne then put Fyre through the announce table with a Shield-style powerbomb.

• Backstage, Joe Gacy says he tried so hard to save Grimes from his pathetic existence, but now Grimes must face them 3-on-1.

• Wes Lee def. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo (3:57).

Grade: C-

Post-match, Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes attack Lee until Oro Mensah makes the save.

• Backstage, Sonya Deville says she and Mandy Rose may have had their differences, but they are still best friends.

And if Dolin & Jayne are Rose’s girls, then they are also Deville’s girls.

Deville doesn’t know what Fyre is thinking with her flaming bat but she thinks Fyre may have burned up her brain cells.

Deville says that next week Deville will be waiting in the ring for Fyre.

• Creed Brothers are waiting at a hospital when Ivy Nile wheels Roderick Strong out in a wheelchair, wearing a neckbrace.

Roddy says it’s so good to see them. Creeds say it’s tough to see Strong like this. Brutus says Damon Kemp will pay for what he did.

Strong apologizes and says he’s the one who brought Kemp into the group, and he might be the reason The Diamond Mine is over.

Strong says he needs one thing from Julius at Halloween Havoc – just win.

Because it’s Diamond Mine… They put their hands on top of each other and say it’s forever.

• Kiana James def. Thea Hail (1:18).

Grade: D

During the match, Hail slams Robert Stone once again.

• Backstage, Tony D'Angelo (on crutches) confronts Stacks. Stacks asks how he’s doing, and Tony says better than Stacks.

Tony blames Stacks being on the apron for how he got injured. Stacks is sorry. Tony says actions have consequences; Stacks said this himself.

Stacks will find out next week because he has another match. Stacks asks if it’s against Lee but Tony won’t tell him.

Tony recalls when Stacks fought Ralphie in the 8th grade when Ralphie cut him in the lunch line.

Stacks says that was a war, and Tony says it will be like that.

• Backstage, Cora Jade says Rhea Ripley just got back to her and now she’s going to RAW on Monday.

It’s announced that Perez will pick the Pick Your Poison opponent from SmackDown, while Jade will pick from RAW.

The “Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal” wheel appears at the entrance-way and it starts spinning on its own.

A spooked Waller rushes back to the ring but Dragunov drops him and hits the Moscow Torpedo for the pin.

Grade: B+

Post-match, Dragunov turns back around to a Spear from Bron Breakker. JD McDonagh is in the crowd, smiling and clapping.
